Solo lunch at Patty & Bun

Last Friday I had a very early meeting out of town, and I was back in London by 11.30AM. Having been up since 5.30 AM, I was slightly hungry, starving. After a brief Twitter consultation, I decided to head down to Patty & Bun for a solo lunch treat. Well, I had originally invited my friend A, but she politely declined my offer to spend her lunch break working shopping online ;).

Patty & Bun opened on the 30th November on James street, close to Selfridges and St. Christopher’s place; well-known to the foodie community after a few pop-up ventures in Soho and at Feast festival.

I arrived at the restaurant at 11.58, exactly 2 minutes before they opened the doors, to a small queue of hungry punters. Once in, I grabbed myself a stool in the tiny 30 seat dining room, and gave an in-depth scan to the menu. Only to be distracted by a very evident fact.

Quite interestingly I was one of the only two girls in the restaurant. Girls, if you are up to meet new boys, this is THE place to have lunch on a Friday!

Back to the food… They offer 6 different burgers: ARI Gold Cheeseburger, Smokey Robinson, Jose’ Jose’ Chilli, Hot Chick Chicken, Lambshank Redemption and Portobello ‘Dig it’ Mushroom.

I decided for the ARI Gold: Beef patty, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickled onions, Ketchup, Smokey P&B Mayo, Brioche.

Hands down, this is one of the best burgers I have ever had in London. A juicy patty in a soft, fluffy brioche. So tasty and messy. Exactly what I needed!

The rosemary salt chips with skin were crispy and nicely seasoned. Just perhaps a little cold, and the portion not as generous as I would have expected.  Clearly the burgers are the heroes here.

I will go back. Recommended!
